The last home in Seurtulan was completed in July 2011. In total 37 homes have been constructed as well as a church community centre that is currently being used by YWAM for ongoing ministry in the village. Sponsorship of plumber-come-tradie Russell Craig, who served full time as Building Leader, enabled community development education in the basics of construction and irrigation. Yooralla also assisted three young men to undertake formal training in construction, providing the promise of the future employment.
Relationally, we have connected with the families through "fun days", football and volley ball games, movie nights and concerts. We have established life-long friendships with all who have been part of this journey. When the final home was completed, the whole village held a ceremony and celebrated with a feast to acknowledge the physical, spiritual and relational transformation of their community.

I went for the first time to East Timor in July 2010 and had heard many stories. However, what I didn't really comprehend beforehand was how beautiful the country was in both its scenery and its people. These people barely have anything and yet they are willing to give everything to you to say thanks for building their house. They are able to sing in church at a volume I have never experienced before, all about how happy they are, happy with what God has done for them. It has been a really humbling experience that I will treasure for life. I can't wait to go back and I encourage everyone to challenge themselves and go over to Timor-Leste and help our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 1 John 3:16 (NIV)
